What are Dark Circles?
Dark circles under the lower eyelids are common in women. Often accompanied by bags, dark circles can make you appear older than you are. To make matters worse, they can be difficult to get rid of.
Dark circles are most common in people who:
- are elderly
- have a genetic problems
- people who carry more stress with them
While fatigue may seem like the most logical explanation for this condition, there are a number of factors that can contribute to dark circles under the eyes. In most cases, they are no cause for concern and do not require medical attention.
Sometimes they can be cured from natural remedies/ home remedies. So here are some of the tips to get rid of dark circles.
Tomatoes are natural bleaching agents. They contain antioxidants that reduce dark cricles around the eyes. Try this important home remedy to remove dark circles:- Extract tomato juice and mix ½ tsp of lemon juice and 2 tsp of gram flour (Besan) to it. Apply the paste under the eyes and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water.
Cold Cucumber Slices
Cucumbers contain antioxidants that can reduce puffiness around the eyes. As a natural astringent and a coolant, cucumber causes the skin tissues to contract. This makes under-eye circles less prominent. Place finely cut cucumber slices on each eyelid. Leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse.
Potato contains natural bleaching property that can help to lighten your skin under your eyes as well as prevent puffiness around your eyes. Take chilled potatoes and grate them. Extract the juice in a bowl and soak cotton pads for a minute. Place them on your eyes for 20 minutes and wash off with normal water.
Milk contains vitamins A and B6, which help build new skin cells. The vitamin B12 in milk naturally lightens dark skin. Just soak two cotton pads in cold milk and squeeze out excess. Place the cotton pads on the eyes covering the dark circles. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash it with cold water. Repeat thrice a week to get better results.
Mint leaves contain menthol that improves blood circulation and soothes and rejuvenates the skin. It is natural astringent and contracts the blood vessels around the eyes. The vitamin C in mint makes the skin around the eyes appear brighter. you can make your own mask at home by blending mint leaves and applying them on the your dark circles. Leave it for 10 minutes before washing.
Tips to Prevent Dark Circles:-
- Be gentle when cleansing and removing eye make-up.
- Use sunglasses whenever you go outside the home in the sunlight.
- Get extra sleep, if possible.
- Avoid eye cosmetics if you are allergic to them.
- Last but not the least, always moisturise the skin under the eye.
